Sash Windows
Our sashes are made of all wood. The stiles and rails are 1 3/16" thick x 1 11/16" wide. Muntins are 1 3/16" thick x 11/16” wide. Sashes are screwed together with zinc plated screws. The sashes are true-divided-lites. Stiles, rails and muntins are molded on both sides of the single strength glass (2.5 mm thick) There is a small bead of clear latex silicone caulking where the glass meets the wood on the outside of the window to make them weathertight.
A sash window is a wooden frame that holds panes of glass which are normally separated from other panes (lites) by a muntin(s).
A window above a door that is usually is normally longer than high. A typical transom window is 12" high x desired length(width).
